Biography

Writing from the constraints outward.

Iván Moreno Gil writes fiction centered on the point where scientific constraints stop being background and begin to determine what people, institutions, and entire civilizations can actually choose to do.

He grew up surrounded by books, comics, VHS tapes, and dismantled computers, developing an enduring interest in the boundary between science, imagination, the mind, and philosophy. That same curiosity later became the meeting point between his fiction and his independent scientific work.

Among the writers he returns to most often are Neal Stephenson, Kim Stanley Robinson, Arthur C. Clarke, Frederik Pohl, and Dan Simmons.

His stories repeatedly return to civilizational survival, continuity of identity, astrophysical and engineering limits, and decisions whose consequences may extend far beyond the lifetimes of the people who make them. The science is not decorative worldbuilding: it establishes the boundaries inside which the human story has to operate.

Writing & research

Scientific inquiry as part of the creative process.

Alongside his literary work, Moreno Gil pursues independent research in theoretical physics and cosmology, continuing a long-standing, largely self-directed engagement with scientific questions.

His research work has been made available through platforms including Zenodo and Research Square. On the fiction side, that scientific practice informs how he approaches scale, causality, physical limitations, technological tradeoffs, and the long-term consequences of speculative technologies.
